Overview

Welcome to "Daddies on Duty," a heartfelt and enlightening podcast where we dive into the unique and vibrant world of parenthood through the eyes of two dads with an extraordinary story. Hosted by Emmy Award winning journalist Eliecer Marte and his husband, Business Executive Erick Martinez. This podcast peels back the curtain on their remarkable journey to fatherhood, from the challenges and triumphs of foster care adoption to the intricate process of international surrogacy.

Three years ago, our lives changed forever when we became foster parents to an incredible little boy and his sister. Our journey didn't stop there; three years later we are now into the adoption phase and looking forward to have him as a forever member of our family, and sadly saw his sister go to live with her biological dad. But our story of parenthood took another beautiful turn when, at the end of last year, we welcomed our biological baby girl into the world, born through the help of a surrogate mother from South America.

"Daddies on Duty" is not just about sharing our story; it's about creating a platform for honest, open discussions about the joys, challenges, and nuanced realities of parenthood. We delve into what it means to navigate the surrogacy process across international borders, the legal and emotional hurdles we faced, and the incredible community that supported us every step of the way.

As gay fathers, we also explore the significance of raising our children in a diverse and ever-evolving world, addressing the unique perspectives and experiences within the LGBTQ+ community. We tackle the backlash and negative feedback from religious groups, Latino communities, and those with the stereotypical concept of the Latino "Macho-man". From day-to-day parenting hacks to deeper discussions about identity, inclusion, and love, our podcast is a tribute to all families that come in every shape and size.
Join us each week on "Daddies on Duty" as we share stories, insights, and laughter. Whether you're a parent, considering becoming one, or simply interested in the beauty of diverse families, there's a place for you here. Let's celebrate the journey of parenthood, together, one episode at a time.
